They help prevent infections or transmission of microorganisms between healthcare personnel and patients and provide protection against splashes and contaminants (chemicals, disinfectants, bleaches...) and cytostatics.

Nitrile was developed as an alternative to latex to avoid the allergy issues that latex can cause in some people.
