Pharmaceutical Advice

Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of fat with positive effects on various aspects of health, but which the human body does not produce naturally. For this reason, it must be provided through the daily diet and can be added in the form of food supplements. Natural sources of omega-3 are: fish and seafood, seeds and algae.

Some of the main benefits of omega-3 are related to our cardiovascular health. In supplementation, they can contribute to lowering triglyceride and cholesterol levels in the blood, as well as reducing platelet aggregation. In this sense, personalised advice on recommended doses and precautions is essential. They also contribute to maintaining normal blood pressure values. Omega-3 fatty acids are part of the cell membranes, which is especially important for the functions of the nervous system.

The best known are EPA and DHA (from marine sources) and ALA (from vegetable sources). Depending on the contribution of each one, they will have different benefits for the organism. Omega-3s are good allies for eye, heart and nervous system health, within a healthy and balanced diet.
