Pharmaceutical Advice

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic disorder affecting the bowel that can cause several intestinal symptoms such as bloating and abdominal pain and/or bowel movement disorders (constipation, diarrhoea or alternation of both). It is a pathology that always requires medical diagnosis and proper monitoring. Specialists can prescribe specific pharmacological treatment accompanied by advice on diet and lifestyle on a case-by-case basis.

With appropriate medical advice, some dietary supplements or health products can provide additional support. This is the case for products with specific probiotic strains that studies have shown to be useful in the context of irritable bowel syndrome. Other ingredients such as glutamine or some short-chain fatty acids help to restore the barrier formed by the intestinal epithelium. On a nutritional level, it is highly recommended to follow personalised dietary advice from an expert to better cope with symptoms and take care of bowel function. Stress management is also important. In this regard, dietary supplements with plants that have a relaxing effect can be used, again under professional advice. If you have any questions or your symptoms get worse, seek professional advice.
