Botanical data The grapefruit or Citrus paradisi is a fruit tree, hybrid of Citrus maxima (the true grapefruit) and Citrus sinensis (the orange tree). It is grown mainly in the United States, Israel, South Africa and Argentina. It is very sensitive to freezing temperatures, and the fruit is more acidic when there is little sun.
