The hand warmer contains a reusable gel pack. Just hold the metal chip between thumb and forefinger and gently bend until it clicks. The solution then crystallizes and releases heat. Massaging the bag will help maximize the heat. It will stay warm for about 45 minutes. Afterwards the gel pack will become cold and hard, but place it in a pan of water and bring to a simmer for about 12 minutes or until the crystals disappear. Once it has cooled it is ready to use again.
