Alum powder deodorant

Description

Mineral alum powder has a wide range of antiseptic, deodorant, astringent, antibacterial and healing properties, as well as a high tolerance to sensitive skin. It is composed of potassium salts and aluminium sulphate that is not absorbed through the skin due to the larger size of its molecules and does not release aluminium per se. It acts only on the surface of the skin by inhibiting the decomposition of perspiration and therefore does not produce the smell of sweat. Powdered alum may consist of different types of crystals in appearance, texture or color.

Sweating is a natural mechanism to regulate body temperature, a process that intensifies during physical activity or when feeling nervous. Sweat is made of water, mineral salts and waste substances which, when in contact with the skin microbiota bacteria, are degraded, resulting in an unpleasant odour.

Deodorants or antiperspirants are cosmetics with one of the following functions: blocking some of the sweat glands (aluminium salts), deodorising sweat (flavouring agents), with antiseptic activity (alum mineral) or capable of rebalancing odour-causing microorganisms (pre- and probiotic ingredients). If the skin is irritated, avoid products containing alcohol and opt for soothing and moisturising ingredients instead.

You can find deodorants in several formats. Spray deodorants dry quickly, although they are not recommended if your skin is sensitive or reactive. Stick or roll-on deodorants are easy to apply and provide a feeling of comfort. Cream and soaked wipes allow for application to specific areas of the body with hypersweating issues. Finally, there are also cleansing gels and powders with a deodorant or antiperspirant function.
