Pharmaceutical Advice

Protein is essential for the structure and regulation of the body's tissues, organs, and cellular function. It is also particularly important during exercise, as it is essential for muscle growth and regeneration and for people in a calorie deficit who want to lose weight without compromising their muscle mass.

Protein-rich dietary supplements provide an extra supply of this macronutrient to complement the normal diet. The protein in supplements can come from an animal source (whey protein) or a plant-based source (soy, pea, hemp, etc.). It often comes in powder form to dilute in water, milk or other foods, but can also be found as an ingredient in bars, shakes, etc.

Before including a protein-rich food supplement in your diet, consult a healthcare professional, especially if you have a kidney or liver condition.
