Melanin is the biopolymer responsible for skin and hair colour and is produced by melanocytes, cells located at the base of the epidermis and in the hair follicle. Sometimes, this melanin accumulates in certain areas of the dermis, resulting in skin spots, which are usually darker than the rest of the skin. Following a facial routine specifically designed for blemish-prone skin is very important to prevent the appearance or reproduction of blemishes. Anti-blemish cosmetics often contain exfoliating and depigmenting ingredients that help to soften the pigmentation and help to even out skin tone. A good facial care routine starts with an anti-spot serum to boost the action of your usual cream. Active ingredients such as Vitamin C, Glycolic Acid, Niacin or Cholic Acid are perfect for treating this type of skin. If you notice unusual looking spots or of unknown causes, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist.
