This Hojicha tea comes from the bancha variety with the peculiarity of providing a more intense flavor. It is made with the lower leaves of the tea plant. Originally from China, and introduced by Buddhist monks during their pilgrimages, it became part of Japanese culture. These leaves have a greater exposure to the sun and consequently contain a higher dose of tannins, from which comes its particular flavor that differentiates it from other varieties of Japanese tea. Its antioxidant properties help fight free radicals, as well as like all teas and especially green teas promote digestion, fight against cholesterol and improve the absorption of sugars. Its low levels of caffeine, thanks to its roasting process, makes it suitable for drinking at any time of day even for children.
