It is a natural protector of the stomach and relieves constipation. Intracma warns that regular consumption of licorice may lower potassium levels and increase sodium levels. It is not recommended for people with kidney failure, high blood pressure, cramps or muscle weakness. It is also not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.
