It is a superfood that comes from the roots of Lepidium Meyenii, a very resistant plant that grows at high altitude (> 4,000 m) in the Peruvian Alps, in rocky soil and extreme climatic conditions.

According to local tradition, maca was used by Inca warriors to stimulate their aggressiveness in combat. Maca is also considered by the indigenous population as an aphrodisiac that also improves fertility.

Biotona pure maca powder, which has a pleasant taste, is obtained from organically cultivated maca roots, which are harvested by hand after 8 months of growth. Once dried, they are then washed, sorted, dehydrated and reduced to powder.
