First clean the wound before starting treatment with prontosan gel. Prontosan gel should be applied liberally to the wound. Before applying the dressing, moisten bandages, gauze, compresses or other absorbent wound padding with prontosan. The wound surface should be kept continuously moist to ensure adequate cleansing.
