Algisite M is a calcium alginate dressing with mannuronic acid fibers that forms a gel upon contact with wound exudate.

This dressing has several important features:

• It absorbs liquid and promotes healing in a moist environment.
• It can absorb up to 10 times its weight in exudate.
• It stays in place for up to 7 days.
• It conforms to the contours of the wound.
• It is easily removed without damaging the surrounding tissue.

It is indicated for:

• Moderately to highly exudative wounds, including infected ones.

Precautions:

• It should always be used under medical supervision.
• Do not use in patients allergic to alginate.
• Remove properly if placed in cavities or sinuses.
• Not reusable.
• Do not use if the packaging is open or damaged.
