Staying seated or standing for too long, stomping without moving from the spot, wearing excessively tight clothing (tight pants, boots), using shoes with very high or very low heels, exposing the legs to the sun or other heat sources, gaining excessive weight, and consuming foods that contribute to vein congestion; alcohol, spices, coffee, tea, or tobacco.
Recommendations:
Elevate the legs whenever possible (especially in bed at night), engage in regular physical exercise (brisk walking, swimming, gymnastics, cycling), stimulate the legs with a cold shower, massage them, and use compression stockings or socks.
