The exposome is the set of external and environmental factors people are exposed to throughout their lives. In skin care, exposome knowledge is important to determine which factors are directly related to skin ageing and which strategies will limit the skin's oxidative process.

Factors such as solar radiation, pollution, nutrition, stress and lack of sleep majorly impact skin photo-ageing. In addition to these exogenous factors, the skin ages due to a decrease in the natural production of collagen and other proteins, such as elastin and hyaluronic acid. This continuous decrease in the skin's protein production leads to a progressive loss of elasticity and radiance.

There are anti-ageing products that include these proteins and elements in their composition that help moisturise the skin, thus counteracting some of these factors and slowing down skin ageing. But as well as choosing a product that suits your skin's needs, it is also important to take certain precautions to protect your skin. Avoiding excessive sun exposure, following a balanced diet and getting enough sleep are all factors that contribute to maintaining good skin health.
