Black Maca is a wild perennial species, woody and with an elongated root. It was first cultivated by the Chinchay people in Peru at least 4,000 years ago. It is the ancestral origin of the Maca plant. It comes in four colours, white, yellow, red and black, and from the same plant are born indistinctly different colours, being then separated and classified, for subsequent packaging according to their colour and properties. It is also sold in a mixture of the 4 colours. Product of Peru, from the high Andean plateaus.
