Saffron is a highly aromatic spice that comes from the Crocus sativus flower. It is highly valued in cooking for its intense flavour and as a food colouring. It is popularly known as 'red gold', due to its highly complex harvesting method.
It can also be found as an ingredient in dietary supplements, as it is a source of valuable antioxidants, including carotenoids.
