Pharmaceutical Advice

Chia seeds are a food that contain several interesting nutrients and are easy to integrate into your regular diet.

They are a plant-based source of omega-3 fatty acids (alpha-linolenic acid) and also stand out for their protein and fibre content. They provide B vitamins, minerals (such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc) and other antioxidants. Therefore, they are a good source of nutrients and micronutrients. They are naturally gluten-free.

The fibre provided by chia seeds stays in the gut undigested, allowing the good bacteria in the gut to feed from it and helping to improve overall intestinal health.

They have a very neutral taste, so they do not change the flavour of the food they are served with and can be included in both savoury and sweet dishes. Their texture, when in contact with liquids, becomes gelatinous and thick and helps to satiate the stomach without interfering with digestion. This substance also hydrates and lubricates the intestinal tract, facilitating defecation.

They should be consumed according to the recommendations on the manufacturer’s label and in moderate quantity.
